On the horizon

I've got a few things that I've dreamt up lately which have ended up, for one reason and another, staying behind the scenes.  Anyone following me on Instagram might be well aware of this fact, as they see pictures of half finished projects appear briefly and then disappear without a trace.

I'm pleased to say that I haven't forgotten these seemingly neglected items and have been making slow progress with them in the background.  Finally things are starting to come together and I thought I'd start showing you what I've been up to.

First up, I've got some very recent and seasonally appropriate experimentation for your delight.  These little hearts were one of those on the spur of the moment things that popped into my head and they turned out just like the image I had in mind.  Don't you love it when that happens?

I'm planning on making a couple of decorative hanging things for the mantlepiece which is, shock of shocks, bare at the moment.   So, while working on the hearts I'll need for that, I'm getting the pattern written up and nicely refined ready to share with you later this week.  Exciting!

The other thing that'll be showing up here very soon is a shawl that I originally finished in the Autumn.  I was inspired by Autumnal colours as you can see from the picture and it also works particularly well with some new clothes I got at that time.  I've loved wearing this shawl and it's such a quick and easy little thing to whip up that I'm thinking another one in different colours might well be in order.

I've chosen a few bits and bobs of yarn from my stash so that I could work my way through the pattern again, to give things a final check over and I'm really liking these softer colours together.  They remind me a bit of the softer, faded out winter palette I was thinking of for last month's Colour Collaborative post.

The trouble is, I haven't got enough for a full shawl in these particular colours.  Maybe I'd better go and check my stash again and see what I can rustle up.
